Job Description
As a SEND Mentor you will support pupils with a range of additional needs including autism ADHD communication differences and sensory processing challenges. Your work will focus on helping learners access the curriculum build self belief and develop practical strategies that make their day feel manageable and rewarding. This is a role that values patience emotional strength and a respectful understanding of how each child experiences the world.
You’ll spend your day providing in class support small group interventions and 1:1 mentoring that builds confidence and helps pupils develop routines that work for them. You will collaborate closely with the SENCo class teacher and therapists to follow tailored plans that balance academic objectives with wellbeing and personal development. The role requires someone who can bring warmth curiosity and consistency to their practice while holding high expectations for pupil growth. You will become a trusted adult for learners who need stability and clarity to feel safe and successful.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide 1:1 and small group SEND support across key learning sessions
Implement support strategies for communication sensory regulation and independence
Adapt tasks to match individual learning profiles
Work collaboratively with SENCo and therapists to follow personalised plans
Record progress and contribute feedback to wider support meetings
