Job Description

We’re seeking a patient and dedicated SEND Support Specialist to join a Birmingham-based school where inclusion isn’t just a policy — it’s a promise. You’ll provide structured 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism, ADHD, and social or emotional needs, helping them access learning and develop coping strategies. The role combines empathy with structure — you’ll be part mentor, part motivator, and part problem-solver. Working within a collaborative SEND team, you’ll contribute to EHCP targets, adapt learning materials, and model emotional regulation. You’ll also work closely with therapists and parents to maintain consistency between school and home. For those passionate about SEND education and ready to grow within a truly supportive environment, this position offers meaning, professional development, and impact in equal measure.

Job Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted interventions and in-class support for pupils with additional needs
Adapt activities and materials to make learning accessible and engaging
Monitor and record pupil progress in collaboration with the SENCO
Support pupils’ emotional regulation using trauma-informed approaches

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience working with SEND pupils, ideally in a UK school
Calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A genuine commitment to inclusion and lifelong learning

About the School

This Birmingham SEND school, rated Good by Ofsted, provides an exceptional environment for pupils with complex communication and learning needs. With small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios, the school ensures every learner receives individualised attention and tailored support. Its curriculum integrates sensory regulation, life skills, and therapeutic input alongside academic learning. Staff receive specialist training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, and emotional literacy, and the school’s pastoral culture is known for being both restorative and empowering. The leadership team promotes collaboration and emotional wellbeing, creating a workplace where staff feel valued, listened to, and continually developed. This is a rare opportunity to work within a team that changes lives daily through patience, passion, and purpose.

What do I need?

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

That’s it! Our process is simple, and our consultants will advise on how to fast track your checks so you can start working ASAP.

Equal Opportunities Employer

Milestone Education is a committed Equal Opportunities Employer and will not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, or sexual orientation.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
