Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Milestone Education is looking for compassionate and dedicated SEND teaching assistants to join a school in the B36 area of Birmingham. This full-time role offers stability, career progression, and the opportunity to enhance your skills in SEND support.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain attentiveness and stay alert to the individual needs and well-being of students
Support and assist children with special educational needs in the classroom and throughout daily routines
Engage in classroom activities, including observations, record-keeping, and contributing to lesson planning
Provide one-on-one or small group support as required
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
Occasionally assist with opening and closing duties

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

1-2 years' experience working with children with SEND
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
Knowledge of special educational needs and relevant support strategies
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the confidence to report concerns
A passion for supporting children with SEND, helping them thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment

  • A DBS (and Overseas Police Check if you’ve recently lived outside the UK for more than 6 months).

  • Education-based referee details - we’ll apply for the references!
