Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and resilient SEND teaching assistant to work within the specialist provision of a mainstream primary school, supporting a group of 14 children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is perfect for someone with strong behaviour management skills and a passion for creating a supportive and structured learning environment where students can thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH needs in a small specialist provision within a mainstream school
Assist with classroom activities, emotional regulation, and behaviour management
Work closely with the SEND team, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective support strategies are in place
Create a positive and structured learning environment, helping students engage with the curriculum
Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction among students
Desired Experience
+ Qualifications
Knowledge and experience of SEMH and behaviour management strategies
Previous classroom experience, ideally within a SEND setting
A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to working with children with additional needs
