How to Use SkillsBridge Groups: A Guide to Getting the Most from Your Learning Community

When it comes to CPD that sticks, collaboration is key. That’s why SkillsBridge includes built-in Groups—online spaces designed to bring educators together around shared learning, challenges, and wins.

Whether you’re part of a course cohort, leading CPD across your school, or supporting pupils with specific needs, SkillsBridge Groups offer a space to connect, reflect, and grow—together.

Here’s how to make the most of them.

1. Join the Right Group for Your Course or Focus Area

Each course on SkillsBridge comes with a dedicated group. You’ll automatically be added to the group that matches your course.

These are perfect for:

  • Sharing reflections on course content

  • Asking questions about implementation

  • Learning how others are applying the material in their settings

Want broader discussions? Check out the Powered by Purpose Group—our open forum for cross-course collaboration, sector updates, and inspiration.

2. Ask, Don’t Assume

Got a question about a tricky classroom moment?

Wondering how others are adapting a course strategy for pupils with more complex needs?

Use your Group space to ask! No question is too small, and chances are someone else is wondering the same thing.

Use prompts like:

  • “Has anyone tried this with KS1?”

  • “How are you introducing this to support staff?”

  • “Any tweaks for SEND learners that worked well?”

3. Share What’s Working (Even If It’s Small!)

You don’t need a perfect case study to share something useful.

SkillsBridge Groups are at their best when members post:

  • “Tried this today” snapshots

  • Resources or tweaks you’ve made

  • Wins (and even partial wins!) from the week

The more we share, the more we all grow. And someone else might benefit from exactly what you just tested.

4. Use the Resource Drop Zone

Inside many Groups, you’ll find threads or folders where members can share files, templates, or photos.

This is a brilliant place to:

  • Upload a differentiated worksheet

  • Post your version of a pupil profile

  • Share parent comms based on a SkillsBridge guide

Just be sure to keep it anonymised and safe—no identifiable pupil data, please.

5. Use the Group to Embed CPD

SkillsBridge Groups can also be a powerful tool for team leaders.

You can:

  • Set up check-in prompts after each course module

  • Encourage weekly reflections

  • Use posts as conversation starters in staff briefings

It’s a great way to move CPD beyond individual learning and into shared practice.

6. Be Kind, Be Curious, Be You

SkillsBridge Groups are safe, professional spaces where everyone is welcome—regardless of role, setting, or experience.

Engage openly, offer encouragement, and remember: we’re all here to make schools better for the children we serve.
